To practice medicine in Germany, foreign-trained professionals must apply for recognition of their training and meet the requirements needed to obtain the corresponding professional license, known in Germany as the Approbation. The program includes: • Intensive German: a 20-lesson-per-week course, from A1 through B2, over 33 weeks. • FSP preparation: specific preparation for the Fachsprachprüfung, the medical German exam that's part of the process for foreign doctors. • KP preparation: preparation for the Kenntnisprüfung, the medical knowledge exam that may be required as part of the recognition process. To take it, you must have already passed the FSP. SUPPORT THROUGHOUT THE RECOGNITION PROCESS One of the most important parts of the program is that students don't have to face the administrative process alone. The program includes: • Support opening the recognition file in the state of your choice. • Document review before traveling to Germany. • Review and guidance during the program in Germany. • Assistance registering with the local municipality to obtain the corresponding residence permit. • Assistance opening a bank account in Germany. • Guidance on the blocked account. • Assistance with health insurance. HOW MUCH MONEY DO YOU NEED TO LIVE IN GERMANY? Beyond the cost of the program, it's important to factor in living expenses during your stay. As part of the residence permit requirements, the German government sets a minimum living expense amount that must be shown through a blocked account. Currently, for this program, that amount is €1,091 per month, equivalent to €13,092 per year. This money is meant to cover living costs during your stay and can be used monthly for expenses like housing, food, transportation, health insurance, and personal expenses. Keep in mind that this living expense amount is separate from the cost of the program. PROGRAM LENGTH AND PRICE • Total length: 43 weeks. • Program price: €12,595. The program is designed to guide students from their initial German preparation through the different stages related to medical language and the licensing process.
